Norco have an exciting opportunity for an experienced QA Assistant to join our team at our newly rebuilt ice cream factory in Lismore

Reporting to the Senior Site QA Coordinator, the QA Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting in the implementation of the site’s quality strategy to ensure products are safe, defect free, and manufactured to specification. The key focus is to ensure the microbiological and chemical functions of the laboratory and factory are operating efficiently, effectively and meet Norco and applicable external standards. The QA Assistant will assist with site daily quality related activities and take an active role in managing the laboratory.

***Key Duties and Responsibilities include**:

- Conduct chemical and microbiological testing on raw materials, finished product and packaging
- Complete environmental swabbing for hygiene indication and pathogen detection
- Conduct aseptic product sampling and collection of external testing samples
- Media and reagent preparation
- Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Recording results, report writing and escalation of out of specification results
- Assist with detailed investigation of non-conforming product or other results
- Liaise with multiple departments to help drive a quality culture across the site
- Hold and release product as required
- Assist with ensuring the laboratory is stocked, staffed and meeting the needs of the business
- Support site quality audits
- Laboratory waste control, washing up, cleaning of laboratory and equipment
- Actively support and participate in Safety, Health, and Environment, Food Safety and Quality continuous improvement activities and projects
- Assume duties of the Senior Site QA Coordinator in their absence

**Selection Criteria**:

- Certificate in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent
- Understanding of HACCP and GMP principles
- Previous experience working in food and beverage laboratory manufacturing environment preferred
- Demonstrated compliance to Quality / Safety standards, procedures and practices
- Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
- A safety first mindset
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually when required
- Willingness to learn new skills and be adaptable
