Hazeldenes is a family-owned business that produces some of the best poultry in Australia. They are at the forefront of poultry production in Australia and employ over 700 local people1. Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm is based in **Lockwood, Victoria**2and has breeding and rearing farms, a hatchery, growing farms, and a processing facility scattered across central Victoria

We currently have a position available for a **Poultry farmer**.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Oversee all the contract and Hazeldene broiler farms to ensure Hazeldene’s standards are monitored and adhered to by the Company and contract farmers.

**KEY DUTIES**:

- Liaise with the Broiler Farm Managers on all matters relating to the Broilers, husbandry, preparation and logistics of the management of particular broiler flocks
- Advise staff and contractors including the training in basic broiler management procedures, standard best practise and safe working procedures
- Responsible for the detailed and diligent servicing of both Hazeldene’s owned broiler farms and contract broiler farms. This in particular involves the visitation to the farm**s **and monitoring of day old placements, the regular attendance to each broiler farm throughout the batch, implementing and advising on husbandry procedures as required and the implementation of corrective actions as necessitated
- Undertake continued appraisal of broiler farms to ensure optimal performance is being achieved. Where performance is not achieving standard or expected to not achieve standard a full investigation of causal associations such as bird health, on farm management, facilitation, feed, and any other observations must be evaluated, recorded and assessed. Corrective actions to be implemented and/or findings reported to the Senior Service Person, Farm manager or GM - Farming
- Undertake Facilities Assessments on broiler farms
- Assisting the Programmer in the co-ordination of flock depopulations
- Ensure that all vaccines, treatments and medicines are administered as required and in the appropriate manner
- Advise and monitor RSPCA/Frepa and Hazeldene’s welfare standards
- Ensure strict compliance with the principles of quarantine and biosecurity by all Hazeldene’s farming operations
- Monitor flock health and carry out serological and microbiological testing and water testing as required
- Liaise with other sections of farming including the Hatchery, Processing and Programming divisions
- Continue further education in the husbandry associated with the production of broilers and to pass this information onto staff and contractors where appropriate

**Qualifications**
- Suitable certification or relevant experience

**Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience**
- 5 years of experience in poultry farming
- Extensive knowledge of poultry farming practices
- Understanding basic business systems and their relationships

**Interpersonal Skills**
- Able to communicate to farm managers/contractors and auditing bodies
- Able to be assertive to ensure standards are met

**Salary**
**$70,000 -$85,000**

**Salary**: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
