**THE OPPORTUNITY**

Our client **Legrand Australia** is currently looking for a mechanical fitter apprentice to start immediately at their plant in Prestons. They are happy to look at 1st year new starters to the trade through to 3rd year apprentices looking to increase their knowledge base and learn new skills in a varied environment. Working to a set of precise specifications, you will fabricate, install, and repair heavy machinery by operating tools and machines to grind, mill and shape raw materials into the specified form, then assemble the final product.

Supervised and guided by the National Production Manager, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Measuring and marking out materials for fabrication
- Keeping records of operations, safety, and maintenance procedures
- Cutting, grinding, and shaping metal and other materials
- Interpreting diagrams, drawings, specifications and plans to determine suitable material and sequence of operations
- Diagnosing and repairing faults with tools and machinery, and performing regular maintenance
- Setting up tools and machinery for fabrication process, including guides, stops and other controls
- Monitoring fabrication process and adjusting settings when necessary
- Operating specialised tools and machinery
- Assembling fabricated parts to produce tools and machines
- Following safety protocols

Undertaking this **four-year apprenticeship **will give you the opportunity to become a qualified Mechanical Fitter and you will earn your **MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade.**
