**Based at the ABI Rehabilitation Centre at Caulfield Hospital**

**The Department**

Alfred Health's Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation Centre provides rehabilitation services for people with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injuries and other causes of non-progressive brain injury. The service is comprised of a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation service, a community rehabilitation service and a 4-bed transitional living service.

**The Position Summary**

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled allied health assistant to provide therapy support services to individuals and groups as directed by the Allied Health Professional/s with which they work. The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works as part of the interdisciplinary team to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each client’s identified therapeutic goals. The AHA position is a multi-disciplinary focus and as such will work with all allied health disciplines within the ABI team. This position may involve working with clients on the in-patient ward and/or within the community. The AHA will also be responsible for administrative, clinical support and cleaning duties. Effective time management, communication and well-developed interpersonal skills are required. Alfred Health’s ABI Service provides you with access to regular clinical supervision, opportunities for continued professional development and being part of a friendly and supportive team.

**Skills and Qualifications Required**

**Essential**
- A recognised Certificate IV in Health (Allied Health Assistant)
- Ability to relate to and treat clients with an ABI including those from a variety of diverse social and cultural backgrounds
- A strong focus on patient-centred goals and provision of high-quality services
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to enable effective liaison within an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to take direction from supervising/treating staff and work effectively within a large interdisciplinary team
- Ability to provide 1:1 and group-based interventions
- Ability to supervise or co-supervise AHA students if and when applicable
- Desirable_
- Previous experience in an inpatient rehabilitation setting
