In Victoria, The Flying Doctor has an extensive patient transport operation by air and road, complemented by a range of mobile and fixed primary health services, such as dental, optical, mental health, GP clinics, speech therapy and a growing number of digital health technologies.

**The role**

The Acting Manager - Real Time Logistics, provides strong supervision and leadership to the Road Operations Centre and its functions to ensure the effective and efficient running of the Mobile Patient Care (MPC) road ambulance network. The role works with all stakeholders across the network to drive business performance, customer satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and patient outcomes through practical solutions and efficient resource planning.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

- Managing Operations Centre Team Leaders and Operations Centre Coordinators. Providing clear objectives, systems for productivity, a conduit for communication with management, constructive feedback and recognition, and encouragement of team collaboration.
- Leading and supporting the Operations Centre (OC) to make the most cost-effective and efficient operational decisions. Identifying and implementing actions that promote appropriate transport mode decisions within business rules and reduce empty travel.
- Contributing to short-term and long-term organisational planning and strategy.
- Contributing to business continuity and contingency planning as well as continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Developing, maintaining, updating, and reviewing guidance documents, communications, and reports for work relevant to the area.
- Analysing, consolidating, and formatting data into reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing internal auditing processes for data provision, to make recommendations on policy, and to ensure the OC fulfils Organisational and Industry compliance requirements.
- Leading OC staff recruitment and staff scheduling.
- Coordinating base inductions and required training for new OC staff and visitors.
- Ensuring the OC team is supported with appropriate equipment, systems, and resources to effectively deliver the best performance and service delivery.

**Qualifications and experience required**:

- Understanding of the Non-Emergency Patient Transport industry and associated regulations
- Experience with scheduling individuals and effective shift management
- Experience with efficient and effective routing and dispatch
- Experience with customer engagement and service provision
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational and planning skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and potentially conflicting priorities
- Open, approachable, and effective communication style
- Able to engage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
