Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

With our expanded campus recent opening the Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences. We are expecting to welcome around 2 million visits over the next 12 months.

**About the Role**

Provide professional assistance in all aspects of work in the Projects (Art, Music and Film) department (with a focus on Film) under direction.

**What technical / soft skills you require**

1. Tertiary degree in cultural studies, art or film history or equivalent professional training in the art gallery or cinema sector, coupled with knowledge of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ moving image offerings.

2. Proven experience in undertaking research to an academic standard, the ability to write and present research on the moving image to diverse publics, and the ability to contribute to a wide range of interdisciplinary curatorial projects.

**Targeted questions**
- Provide an example of when you have worked in a collaborative environment on a cinema-related research or curatorial project that required multi-tasking and meeting multiple deadlines. Please provide details of how you showed initiative and managed your workload to ensure deadlines were met. (maximum of 300 words).
- Describe a mini film series which you have curated or could imagine curating for a black-box (cinema) or white-cube (gallery) environment. Mention up to 6 films and your curatorial rationale for these inclusions. (maximum of 300 words)
- Provide a sample of writing exploring a film or time-based artwork. Excerpt should not exceed 600 words.
