Our West Musgrave nickel-copper project is located on Ngaanyatjarra country, in the Musgrave Province of Central Western Australia, and includes the Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits and the Succoth copper deposit.

West Musgrave, which has a 26-year mine life, will be an owner-operator mining operation and in addition to being powered by ~80 per-cent renewable energy, the Project scope includes a pathway to net zero Scope 1 emissions by 2038.

The Project will feature an Autonomous Haulage System and remote operations from day one and our workforce will be a flexible, technology-enabled team supported by remote operations to improve safety outcomes and maximise opportunities for flexible working and diverse participation.

**Location**: Flexible, with travel to Adelaide / Perth / site as required

**The Details**:
The Superintendent - Geotechnical will be responsible for developing all the Geotechnical systems required to operate two large open pit mines safely. The role will identify and establish the departmental requirements using the extensive geotechnical and structural geology work completed to date as a basis. Once these requirements are set, the role will then focus on developing the people, systems, and processes necessary to run a geotechnical department aligned with each mine planning horizon.

Leaving hierarchy at the door, you will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have a relentless focus on collaboration. You will communicate across the whole operations group, with the Traditional Owners, and State representatives such as Mines Inspectors, supporting a transparent and proactive engagement strategy.

**Key Responsibilities**:
The Superintendent - Geotechnical will be responsible for delivering geotechnical processes, procedures, and systems that address safety and operational risk. The role will be responsible for establishing the Ground Control Management Plan and implementing the supporting systems to make it an integral component of the operating environment. Above all, you will foster a culture of care for our people and community.
- Develop the West Musgrave Ground Control Management Plan
- Establish and maintain various monitoring systems including wall movement and groundwater monitoring
- Identify and procure software packages required to carry out geotechnical evaluations
- Carry out stability analysis of designs and excavations
- Manage geotechnical budgeting and forecasting, including proposed geotechnical drilling campaigns
- Provide monthly and annual reports in support of geotechnical activities, performance, and risk mitigation
- Arrange annual geotechnical peer review and audit requirements
- Investigate unplanned movements reporting to regulators, carrying out investigations, and communicating outcomes

**Applicant Requirements**:
This role requires a self-motivated, hands-on and values-based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills, experience, and personal attributes including:

- An experienced open pit Geotechnical Engineer from within the mining industry
- Experience in establishing and/or maintaining a site’s Ground Control Management Plan
- Strong technical experience in setting operational expectations combined with the ability to influence others to ensure outcomes
- An honest and trustworthy professional, capable of delivering difficult messages during times of change
- Ability to impact and install a genuine _We Care_ culture in the safety space
- Can quickly identify threats or opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate or capitalise on these
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise responsibilities and meet deadlines
