**About the Role**

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high achieving, independent school, working as part of the pastoral leadership and psychology services team. The Student Counsellor role is responsible for providing a high standard of support to students being referred for and/or requesting counselling support for social, emotional and/or psychological concerns. The Counsellor will work under the guidance of the Head of Psychology and Counselling services and work closely with fellow team members, Heads of School, Classroom teachers, and Year level coordinator's to provide support and monitoring for these students.

**Primary Responsibilities**

In conjunction with the Student Services Team:
Provide one on one counselling for high risk and/or complex needs students
Student crisis management
Contribute to proactive social, emotional and educational needs cross the school
Refer students and families to external mental health service providers
Collaborate with external mental health service providers
Develop, implement and review case management plans
Record and review case notes
Communicate case management plans and building partnerships with Head of School and other relevant stakeholders
Attend case review meetings with relevant team members
Attend PSG and handover meetings
Ongoing communication with parents, teaching staff and Heads of School
Liaise with teaching staff re: strategies and support for students with significant social/emotional needs.

**Personal Skills and Experience**:
Relevant qualifications in Counselling/Psychology
Experience in Student Counselling
Valid and current Working With Children's Check and be willing to obtain Police Check.
