In your role as the Head of Field Medical, you will have the incredible opportunity to shape the healthcare landscape in Australia through driving excellence in field medical practices for our upcoming product launches.
Jobs to be done:

- Develop a capability building plan for field medical associates, including disease area and product-specific training content, to enhance their skills.
- Enhance and implement field team excellence framework and competency assessment to drive excellence in execution by embedding best practices and high-performance standards.
- Drive coaching excellence through the field medical team, providing effective and impactful coaching to enhance their performance.
- Uphold and drive the standards of medical and scientific excellence within the country Franchise.
- Take charge of planning, executing, and reporting field medical performance across the Australian field medical organization
- Strategically collaborate and influence senior leaders from various functions and external partners to support medical product plans, clinical development, scientific communications, and engagement with medical experts.
- Champion and lead by example in promoting the company's culture, values, and behaviors across their teams.
- Build robust digital infrastructure to manage data, engage, stakeholders, and ensure compliance in a rapidly evolving landscape.
- Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new field medical team members in collaboration with Medical Heads.
- Develop onboarding, training, and assessment plan for new field medical team members.
- Stay informed about the external field medical environment, particularly in relation to Novartis therapeutic areas, to provide valuable insights to the organization.

Your Experience:

- People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a culture of collaboration, development, and high performance.
- Operational Management and Execution: Proven experience in effectively managing and executing field medical plans and activities, ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Joint Value Creation: Demonstrated ability to collaborate, build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and internal teams to create value and achieve common goals.
- Vision & Purpose (Strategy to Story): Skill in creating a compelling vision and communicating it effectively to inspire and align teams towards shared goals.
- Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated strengths in strategic planning and ability to develop and implement strategic plans for the field medical function, aligning them with overall organizational objectives.
- Business Mindset: Strong understanding of the business aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, including financial acumen and commercial awareness.
- Healthcare Systems Thinking: Ability to analyse and navigate complex healthcare systems, including an understanding of the stakeholders, regulations, and reimbursement processes.
- Operational Excellence: Ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence within the field medical function, optimizing processes and outcomes.
- Medical Education and Scientific Engagement: Knowledge and experience in developing and delivering medical educational programs and engaging with healthcare professionals in a scientific and meaningful way.
- Medical Governance: Understanding of medical governance principles and processes to ensure compliance with regulations and ethical guidelines.
- Disease Area Knowledge: Strong understanding of the therapeutic areas relevant to the organization, including scientific advancements, treatment guidelines, and clinical practice.
