On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Principal Metallurgist.

The Principal Metallurgist supports and reviews site processing operations and technical studies in addition to providing advice and routine reporting in mineral processing as applicable to Operations, Projects, and New Business.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

- Support and liaise with site and project metallurgical teams to promote and sustain optimal processing performance and continuous improvement
- Provide owners input to metallurgical testing, flow sheet design, and equipment selection for new projects.
- Provide a conduit between projects and operational teams to ensure alignment and synergy between plans and resource deployment.
- Undertake site visits in relation to processing and metallurgical operations and projects.
- Assist or lead specific project activities in relation to processing and metallurgical.
- Undertake and assist new business and in due diligence assessments as required.
- Provide advice and direction to ExCo in relation to company processing and metallurgical functions, and provide processing and metallurgical input into new business strategic decisions
- Promote safety aspects concerning design and operations of mineral processing plants in relation to standards and procedures.
- Provide input and advice to the owner's operations team with respect to commercial strategies for procurement of process reagents and consumables, offshore gold refining, and process plant/goldroom security.
- Advance the development of geometallurgical orebody characterisation through a multidisciplinary approach spanning the technical disciplines of geology, mine planning, metallurgy, and data science.
- Perform metallurgical accounting audits and own metallurgical balance accuracy and integrity
- Own metallurgical loss accounting process and improvement activities.
- Coach and mentor one direct report, Senior Metallurgist

**About You**:
To succeed in this role, you should be a self-motivated professional holding the following qualifications and experience:

- Appropriate tertiary qualification in mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, or process engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in processing operations management at a senior management level preferred
- Successful experience in process design environment in a project using similar processes.
- Experience in a project environment and developing and maintaining geo-metallurgical models.
- Strong planning, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines.

**Salary** will be negotiated commensurate with experience.
