Policy Officer - Innovation Capabilities (Startups)
- Salary: $91,418 to $103,725 (Plus Superannuation)

The Policy Officer - Innovation Capabilities works as part of a team focused on strengthening Victoria's capabilities to drive innovation and cultivate the state's startup ecosystem.
In this role you will work in a small team within a dynamic environment that encourages thought leadership and pursuing evidence-based ideas from policy through to program implementation. The role will research and develop economic development policy and prepare responses on a range of startup and innovation issues, including the preparation of papers, reports and briefings, speeches, cabinet submissions, sponsorship agreements and correspondence.

**Key accountabilities for this role will include**:

- Research and develop policy advice relating to startups, commercial innovation and early-stage venture capital.
- Manage contracts and discrete projects with limited oversight, including negotiating straightforward agreements, and monitoring and briefing on agency performance for specialist initiatives.
- Foster productive relationships across government and in the ecosystem to gather and share evidence that informs policy and program development.
- Amplify the work of LaunchVic and Breakthrough Victoria to cultivate the startup ecosystem.

To be successful in this position, you will have proven communication and interpersonal skills, strong conceptual and analytical skills and experience in innovation or economic development policy research or projects. You will also have good project and time management skills.
