**Purpose of the** **position**:
The Canteen Manager is responsible for the profitable management and operation of the school canteen according to the policies and procedures of Hunters Hill High School P&C Association.

The Canteen Manager will support the development of strong relationships within the school community in particular with the students, parents and volunteers, teachers, and other school personnel.

**Key** **Responsibilities**:
The Canteen Manager is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of

the school canteen including Canteen employees and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to:
(a) planning, organising, and monitoring the day to day operations of the canteen, including performing daily food preparation and service;
(b) developing, implementing and managing procedures;
(c) ordering, purchasing and maintaining all inventory, including a annual stock-take;
(e) administration of the canteen, including handling of money, and working with the Treasurer /Bookkeeper to ensure timely payments;
(f) inducting and training volunteers;
(g) working with the P&C to market and promote the canteen;
(h) implementing procedures and processes regarding food and workplace safety;
(i) ensuring security of staff and facility, that all appliances are safe, meet standards and are fit for purpose;
(j) ensuring that cleaning duties are carried out daily;
(k) ensuring that the operation of the canteen is aligned with the values of the P&C, the school and school community;
(l) staying abreast of all relevant NSW Legislation and Regulations and ensuring that the Canteen complies;
(m) compliance with Department of Education requirements and directives;
(n) working with the P&C Executive to ensure that the Canteen operates in a safe, sustainable and professional manner, and serves the school community.

**Essential** **criteria**:
Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, organize and control the day-to-day operations of the canteen including finances.

Demonstrated ability to build morale, motivate and generally relate well to students, other staff and community.

High level of written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of the Department of Education's Healthy Food and Drink policy.

Completed, or willingness to complete, FoodSafe Food Handler training (or its equivalent).

Competent computer skills.

Current Working with Children Check and Police Clearance.

Current driver’s license, reliable vehicle and telephone.

Food Handling Supervisor Certificate.

**Desirable** **criteria**:
Tertiary qualifications in canteen operations or similar qualifications e.g. TAFE Canteen Management course

Experience as a canteen supervisor or similar

Knowledge of the nutritional requirements of school aged students.

**Job** **Type**:
Part-time, Permanent. Three month probationary period.

**Salary**:
Depending on qualifications, salary is based on the Fast Food Industry Award. For the successful applicant, we are willing, based on experience provided, to negotiate an amount above this award.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8am to 2:30pm.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.91 - $32.00 per hour
