Education, Childcare & Training- Job DescriptionOur research objective is to improve the capacity of developmental and mental health programs to respond to regional children’s wellbeing needs and build resilience. The research will investigate non-response to psycho-social interventions for children displaying developmental difficulties.

There are two proposed study contexts. The first includes children involved in a community recovery program addressing post-traumatic response and underlying developmental vulnerability, and the other includes children allocated to a developmental paediatric diagnosis and therapy program. Many aspects of program efficacy for each program have already been demonstrated at the aggregate level.

The postdoctoral Research Fellow will lead and be the key person undertaking this academic-standard research and will prepare papers for publication, with a focus on the translation of the project outcomes into practice.

The position will work with the Growing Minds Australia (GMA) team focused on Regional and

Telehealth issues.

This is a great role for an individual looking for a high degree of flexibility, with hours per week to be negotiated at commencement. The contract is initially 12 months full time equivalent, with length of contract extended pro rata for part time hours. The overall project may also be extended if additional funding is received. The position is based in Manly NSW but may be worked remotely.

**What you’ll be doing**

Your key duty and responsibility is to lead the research project, supported by an experienced team and to ensure the research is carried out to appropriate methodological and ethical standards. You will manage the ongoing progress and intellectual development of the research project. You will need to conduct research administration including, if applicable, ethics. You will also lead and contribute to publication(s). Some of your key duties will include (but are not limited to):

- Design, develop and undertake the research project from planning through to data collection, analysis and publication
- Manage the project, reporting regularly on progress to the GMA Regional and Telehealth team
- Write Ethics Committee submissions
- Manage research protocols, including ethics requirements, risk management and data collection processes
- Give project updates, overviews and formal presentations of research activity
- Contribute to the compliance and reporting progress to the project funding body
- Undertake data analysis and contribute to, and/or lead the preparation of peer-review papers and conference presentations, as a lead or co-author
- Attend meetings associated with the research project
- Provide appropriate mentoring to any relevant staff and students on the project
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the partner organisations and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others
- Desired Skills and Experience**About you**

You will be a collaborative, well-organised and rigorous researcher who will possess:

- A completed Doctor of Philosophy in a relevant field of research (e.g. public health, health economics, medicine, nursing, allied health, anthropology, psychology/mental health)
- Knowledge of and experience with mental health treatment and service evaluation
- A track record in publishing peer-reviewed research papers in a relevant field
- Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
- Demonstrated experience in executing high quality research projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Experience with research ethics proposals, project management, data collection, rural or remote settings, Indigenous health, child health (advantageous)
- Knowledge of literature reviews, referencing software, project management tools, data collection tools (e.g., Redcap, SurveyMonkey), interviewing, data analysis of quantitative (e.g., R, STATA, SAS, SPSS) and/or qualitative data (e.g., yarning, realist, other qual), implementation evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, respectful and productive working relationships with colleagues, partners and members of the community.
- Capacity to work independently as a part of a team with mínimal supervision
- Ideally you will be looking to launch your own research career, will be keen to join our team for well beyond the time of this project and will have a keen interest in child health, and/or health systems and services research.
