**Role**:
Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high quality teaching and learning programs. They will use their pedagogical expertise to plan high quality lessons that are shared with other teachers. They will model excellent teaching practice, observing and provide feedback to other teachers. They will have proven skill in working with staff to improve student outcomes. They are expected to have a growing knowledge and expertise in using evidence-based practices for both learning and student wellbeing.

Learning Specialists will be characterised by the positive quality of the relationships they have with their learners, parents/carers and colleagues. They are supportive, active and professional team members.

**Responsibilities**:
As the leader of a Year Level Team, Learning Specialists at Laa Yulta Primary School will have some additional time release and the following key responsibilities.
- Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice, with a particular focus on the use of evidence-based teaching practices.
- Modelling exemplary classroom practice through teacher demonstration lessons (in own classroom as well as other classrooms).
- Providing mentoring and coaching to team members in the use of evidence-based teaching practices through observation, feedback and guidance.
- Demonstrating high-level proficiency in planning practices, including the documentation of quality teaching and learning programs that can be utilised by other teachers into the future.
- Oversight of the curriculum planning for a year level, including supporting others in a team to build their capacity in planning.
- Facilitating a professional and productive weekly Team Planning meeting that adheres to the school¿s norms and expectations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the school¿s Disability Inclusion processes and provide additional support to teachers in the year level team to make and document adjustments for students.
- Relevant to expertise, Learning Specialists may participate in the provision of whole-school professional learning.
