The Assessment Officer - Planning is responsible for the provision of exceptional customer service and the delivery

of sound professional, technical and procedural advice concerning development matters to all internal and

external customers of Council. The Assessment Officer is accountable for ensuring the advice provided and the

Regulations, codes, practices and Council policies and processes.

**Development Applications and Administration**:

- Perform a range of duties relating to development and planning activity for the Barossa Council by ensuring

sound and reasonable planning outcomes as aligned to organisational planning strategies, relevant

legislation and policies.
- Deliver sound, professional and well-informed statutory planning advice to the organisation and broader

community in alignment with the Development Act/Regulations and/or Planning, Development and

Infrastructure Act/regulations, other relevant legislation and the Development Plan/Planning and Design

Code.

- Ensure Council’s administrative processes are followed with a focus on thorough documenting of

correspondence and other relevant documentation and the completion of all records, reports, and agenda

items for the Assessment Panel and approvals within determined timeframes in an accurate and efficient

manner.
- Effectively utilise relevant software to its potential in order to assist in the streamlining of planning administration
- Contribute as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within Council by addressing and resolving a range of

development and planning issues.

- Maintain awareness of changes to relevant legislation as it relates to planning to ensure best practice activity

is applied at all times.

- Drive a culture of exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers through the delivery of

prompt, effective and efficient support services.
- Deliver accurate and timely recording, retrieving and actioning of documents in Council’s Electronic

Document Records Management System (EDRMS).
