**_A South Burnett Regional Council Opportunity:_**

A full-time Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship is available with the South Burnett Regional Council to assist in the Council’s Plant & Fleet Workshop in Nanango.

**_The Duties:_**

The primary role of the position will be to learn and develop engineering diesel fitting trade skills and to use those skills to provide quality support to the workshop team in servicing and maintaining the Council’s machinery and equipment.

Specific duties will include:

- Participate in theoretical training and complete a Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Diesel Fitter/Mechanic).
- Acquire practical on-the-job experience relevant to the trade.
- Assist and work with the Council workshop’s qualified trade staff.
- Maintain work areas to ensure a safe, clean, tidy and efficient workplace.
- Ensure workshop equipment and tools are maintained in good condition.
- Maintain efficient timekeeping, work organisation and quality control to ensure effective service to Council’s internal and external customers.

**_The Requirements:_**
- Minimum successful completion of year 10.
- A commitment to learn and complete formal qualifications.
- The ability to safely perform the physical demands of the role.
- A demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Sound comprehension and numeracy skills.
- The ability to follow directions and work with mínimal supervision as required.
- Proven team player qualities.
- A commitment to safety in the workplace
