**Lecturer - Early Childhood Education**

Position Summary

Lead Institute of Higher Education (LIHE) has established the position of the Lecturer to contribute to the learning environment and demonstrate a commitment to teaching, including ongoing contributions to student development through professional activities and administration of study courses in the field of early childhood education. In addition to teaching standard units at the Institute, the Lecturer will undertake administrative duties as advised by the Course Director and/or Dean.

**Responsibilities**:
Key responsibilities of the Lecturer’s position include:

- Conduct learning activities, online or face-to-face as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
- Tutor students as needed through discussion forums, online chat and other communication channels, both individually and in groups.
- Moderate and facilitate face-to-face and online discussion through forum pages and group chats.
- Contribute to curriculum innovation and design to develop students learning.
- Contribute to and undertake professional development including peer review in higher education teaching.
- Undertake a range of administrative functions connected with the units taught, including moderation and assessment of student work.
- Provide input into the development of new courses and units.
- Attend academic meetings as required.
- Mark and evaluate assessment tasks and provide prompt feedback to students.
- Perform other academic duties such as research and publications.

**Selection Criteria**

Essential
- A Masters or higher research degree such as Ph.D., DBA or Professional Doctorate in Early Childhood Education.
- Demonstrated high level teaching skills and a reflective approach to teaching delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to develop professional relationships across the Institute and externally with industry, government and professional bodies.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive learning environment.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
