The perfect opportunity for a self-motivated individual passionate about aquaculture to join Huon’s Meadowbank and Bagdad Hatcheries.

**The role**

The Hatchery Technician plays an important part in supporting Hatchery operations and maintaining the welfare of our fish to a high standard. As part of small hands-on team, you will:

- Undertake routine checks and advise the manager on site of any adjustments required to maintain high standards of fish welfare.
- Perform routine water quality system monitoring and coordinate water samples.
- Flush water systems and clean tanks.
- Feed fish and conduct weight checks and fish sampling to monitor and screen fish performance.

This opportunity is a full-time position operating 5 days a week. You may be required to participate in overnight shifts, and to provide support between the Meadowbank and Bagdad Hatcheries.

**About you**
- You ideally have a combination of practical fish husbandry experience and a qualification in Aquaculture or related field, or a basic understanding of fish biology and water chemistry.
- You are enthusiastic and self-motivated with a positive attitude, willing to work in all environments and conditions.
- You are an excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively autonomously and within a small team.
- You can undertake the physically demanding requirements of this role in a safe manner.
- You have a keen eye for detail and a proactive focus on continually looking to improve processes.
