**About the Opportunities**
We are excited to announce openings for multiple Paralegal Officer - Clerk Grade 3/4 positions, within our newly formed School Law Team in the Legal Services Directorate at the NSW Department of Education. Our School Law Team will collaborate closely with schools to proactively address legal matters related to education across New South Wales.

**About the role**
The Paralegal Officer provides legal, clerical and administrative support to Legal Officers and other staff within Legal Services Directorate by:
- Responding to complex and sensitive enquiries.
- Undertaking research and project work, including drafting legal documents (under supervision).
- Communicating with clients and referring enquiries to relevant Legal Services officers.
- Assisting with the preparation and delivery of legal education and training programs to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assisting with the collection of relevant legal data for reporting purposes.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Legal qualifications with eligibility to hold a current NSW legal practising certificate, or recent substantial completion of legal studies leading to a law degree for practice in NSW preferred but not essential.
**Key Knowledge and experience**
- Knowledge and experience in the relevant area/s of law impacting on the NSW Department of Education, with the ability to provide targeted, high-quality assistance, research, drafting and casework services.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
