**The Opportunity**:

- The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a PSL 3 Electronic Media Monitoring Service Operator and Project Officer within Library Collections & Databases.
- The Library provides research services to the Parliament, including responding to requests from individuals for information and research services and the production of general distribution briefs and publications.
- The Library also provides information services to the Library's clients through our print and online collections and databases, including the Library databases in ParlInfo and the Electronic Media Monitoring Service, and through the Library catalogue, ParlInfo, intranet sites, and external websites.
- Suitable applicants will be placed in a merit pool that may be used to fill future vacancies, including a non-ongoing role with the Central Enquiry Point (CEP) team providing services to library clients, including circulation, interlibrary loans, collection management, digitisation and administration.

**Who we are looking for**:
As a EMMS operator and project officer you will work with the EMMS team, under the supervision of the EMM Assistant Director, to deliver audio visual current affairs, news, and programs to Parliamentarians and their staff, and assist with projects to maintain and enhance the collection and systems. To succeed in the role, the successful applicant will need to have experience with Media Asset Management systems, in quality assurance of media related assets and metadata, and in performing project activities and tasks.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

- Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the PSL 3 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- 1. As a member of a client focused team, support the work of the Electronic Media Monitoring Service (EMMS) by:

a) preparing metadata relating to monitored radio and television broadcasts in the Electronic Media Monitoring System (EMMS) and ParlInfo databases;
b) assisting with scheduling of recordings on the EMMS; and
c) assisting with responses to client requests.
- 2. Draft and administer project documents and records (such as briefs, minutes and action items) in MS Teams, Content Manager and other tools.
- 3. Liaise with clients, internal staff and external organisations (i.e. state parliamentary libraries) as required in the delivery of the work area’s services.
- 4. Contribute to corporate activities, including by providing administrative and technical support to the senior officers in the section and branch.
- 5. Undertake other operational and project work within the section including ad hoc project tasks to support project objectives.

**Selection Criteria**
- 1. Knowledge and experience in Media Asset Management is highly desirable, including:

- Creating and editing digital records and metadata
- Quality assurance asset checking and metadata enrichment
- Editing of audio visual files using a variety of tools (i.e. Adobe Premiere, Audacity etc).
- 2. Experience in at least one of the following areas:

- a. Selecting and/or auditing items for library collections
b. Maintaining electronic record collections and associated documentation
c. Sourcing, acquiring and maintaining collection resources
d. Project administration.
- 3. Strong digital literacy skills and experience working in an online environment with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
- 4. A team player with good communication skills who can work collaboratively and respond in a positive and flexible manner to change.
- 5. Ability to manage priorities and work quickly while maintaining accuracy.
- 6. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, liaising with clients, internal staff and external agencies as required.
- 7. Awareness of politics and current affairs.
- 8. Other requirements: May require physical capacity to operate manual and electric storage units and to handle archival boxes weighing 4 to 6kg.
