**About us**

UNSW Law & Justice is a top-ranking faculty and a global leader in law and criminology education and research, setting the pace in Australia for 50 years.

We're inspired by principles of justice and our staff are grounded in well-established legal skills. UNSW Law & Justice is committed to social justice and to making a difference in this world.

**Why the Role Matters**

The Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship on 'Evacuations in International Law: Disasters, Conflict and Humanitarian Crises' is a five-year research program directed by Scientia Professor Jane McAdam AO. It is based at the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law in the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney.

The Laureate Postdoctoral Fellows will have a unique opportunity to be part of a world-leading and agenda-setting research program. The program will consider the range of contexts in which evacuations are used - from disasters to conflict to pandemics - to provide the first sustained, integrated legal analysis of how evacuations are carried out, and to ensure that ad hoc responses are replaced with systematic, sustainable solutions that safeguard people's lives and livelihoods.

The Laureate Postdoctoral Fellows will undertake independent research, writing and fieldwork within the Laureate research program and will also collaborate with other members of the Laureate team. Laureate Postdoctoral Fellows may have the opportunity to co-supervise doctoral students and to organize roundtables, workshops and other events. Some domestic and international travel will be required.

The Laureate Postdoctoral Fellows will report to Professor Jane McAdam and will have no direct reports.
