The Parks and Environment Team within the Operations Unit leverages the City’s resources to provide landscaping, horticultural, and irrigation planning, along with maintenance works across the City to achieve the community standards outlined within our Strategic Community Plan and Corporate Business Plan.

Once a contract of employment is signed, we will work together with you to set up a training contract via a Registered Training Organisation that covers the duration of the traineeship**.**

**About the Position**

This Horticulturalist Trainee role is based at the City of Perth Depot in Osborne Park (free parking) and across the Perth CBD, with the City providing a vehicle during work hours. Whilst actively participating in the TAFE structured study, you will gradually begin to assist with the horticultural maintenance of the City's hard and soft landscape assets including turf, gardens, trees, playgrounds, and infrastructure.

General direction and mentoring will be provided from more senior staff (Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Horticulturalists) with guidance from the City’s wider Parks and Environment Team also provided from time to time; because we all want you to sprout and branch out, puns intended. The role requires physical fitness, the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, a ‘C’ class driver’s licence, and a Construction Induction Card (White Card) or a willingness to obtain one.
