DEECA has a unique 12-month opportunity to work with DEECA's General Counsel and the leadership team in the Legal and Legislation Division to support the integration and oversight of new areas of work arising from the 2023 machinery of government changes.

The Legal and Legislation Division partners with groups across DEECA to optimise success, minimise risk and deliver on government objectives through the provision of expert legal advice on department priorities, the development of legislation, and the provision of prosecutions and freedom of information management. The Division also supports whole of department legal procurement, supports the management of litigation and provides efficient systems for managing transactional legal work.

**Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications**
- An Australian lawyer holding or eligible to hold an Australian practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria).
- Demonstrated expertise at an advanced professional and senior level in administrative law, statutory interpretation and litigation management is essential.
- Demonstrated senior level experience in the provision of legal advice in relation to complex issues arising in government projects in the areas of earth resources and agriculture is desirable.

**This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.**
