About the role:
In this role you will assist in sourcing and developing a merchandise range in designated departments and play a key role in the implementation of merchandising strategies.
Supported by the Category Manager, as a Trainee Buyer you will participate in the Bunnings Trainee Buyer Program, this program has been designed as a pathway to a buyer role, consisting of various experiences and education that is relevant to building your capability.
What’s Involved:
- Set the merchandise range / assortment for a designated department within the strategies and brand architecture of the category- Continually seek out opportunities to lower costs and deliver breathtaking value to customers- Negotiate product prices and volumes with suppliers- Understand the competitive landscape both locally and globally for the designated category departments- Regularly visit, check, and assess competitor product assortments and pricing to identify opportunities and ensure EDLP- Ensure that department and product specific promotional programs are developed and implemented to support buying plans- Develop annual business plans outlining product, pricing, and marketing strategies consistent with the broader category and business objectives- Negotiate favourable supplier trading terms designed to grow sales mutually and improve profitability- Ensure new products are compliant with all regulatory and other requirements
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll need:
- Experience within a similar merchandise or leadership role along with excellent presentation, written and verbal communication.- Degree or Diploma in Marketing/Commerce area an advantage- Exposure and understanding of seasonal/ imported product categories- Experience in managing multiple internal and external relationships- Strong negotiation, planning and organisational skills- Proficient with MS word, Excel, and PowerPoint- Accuracy and a high level of attention to detail
