**About our opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced animal handler to join our Local Laws team as a Patrolperson Animal Control.

In this role, you will be an authorised officer responsible for undertaking a variety of duties within our region to educate and enforce animal control in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to:

- conducting compliance patrols
- issuing penalty infringements
- collecting domestic animals
- responding to domestic animal incidents
- delivering cat traps
- handling livestock

You will also undertake ongoing training associated with animal control to continuously build upon your skills and review processes, as well as appropriately use Council issued equipment and personal protective equipment to maintain a safety culture.

**Please note**: This position requires the successful applicant to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours and participate in council's "After Hours On-Call and Programmed Overtime Roster" service. This will include working every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

**About you**

You will have effective communication skills with the ability to educate and enforce compliance within our community. This position involves dealing with potentially sensitive incidents and your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance is achieved.
