**Job Title: Disability Support Worker for Tony (Contractor)**

**Overview**:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide essential support to Tony, a 58-year-old quadriplegic individual. Tony requires assistance with personal care, manual handling, daily living tasks, and meal preparation. This role is crucial in ensuring Tony's comfort, well-being, and independence.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Personal Care**: Assist Tony with activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while respecting his dignity and privacy.
- **Manual Handling**: Safely assist Tony with transfers to and from his wheelchair, bed, or other surfaces, using appropriate lifting techniques and mobility aids.
- **Daily Living Support**: Help Tony with tasks such as feeding, medication management, light housekeeping, and organizing his living space to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
- **Meal Preparation**: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to Tony's dietary preferences and any specific dietary requirements, ensuring his nutritional needs are met.
- **Companionship**: Engage in friendly conversation, provide emotional support, and participate in activities that Tony enjoys, fostering a positive and supportive relationship.
- **Flexibility**: Be available for shifts of a minimum of 2 hours, with the potential for additional hours as requested by Tony.
- **Communication**: Maintain clear and open communication with Tony, his family, and other members of the caregiving team to ensure continuity of care and address any concerns or changes in Tony's needs promptly.
- **Safety**: Follow proper protocols and procedures to ensure Tony's safety at all times, including infection control measures and emergency response protocols.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly quadriplegia, is preferred **OR** Cert III in Disability Support Work.
- Knowledge of proper manual handling techniques and personal care procedures
- Compassion, patience, and empathy towards individuals with disabilities and their unique needs.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with Tony and his support network.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for Tony's autonomy and preferences.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Training Modules (Provide Certificates)

**Working Conditions**:

- Shifts may vary and include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The role may involve standing for extended periods, lifting and bending, and exposure to bodily fluids (with appropriate protective measures in place).
- A supportive and inclusive work environment where teamwork and collaboration are valued.

**Must Have**:

- ABN
- Insurances: Personal compensation, Professional Indemnity and Public Liability
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Police Check
- Working With Children Check
- NDIS Screen Check
- A car (due to limited transportation in the area)

**Pay Rates**:

- Weekday/Evenings = $40
- Saturday = $50
- Sunday = $65
- Public Holiday = $75

**Note**: This job description outlines the primary responsibilities and qualifications for the role of the ideal Support Worker for Tony. However, additional duties may be assigned as necessary to meet Tony's evolving needs and preferences. **Job Types**: Subcontract, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $40.00 - $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 - 10 per week
