Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

**Roster**:
Monday to Friday

This key role exists to oversee and manage a number of business critical, multidisciplinary technical disciplines in support of Fortescue’s mining operations.

This includes but is not limited to the following disciplines:

- Mining Engineering
- Geotechnical Engineering
- Mine Surveying Geology & Geometallurgy

The role requires strong, demonstrated leadership, analysis and communication experience in complex mining environments.

**Core purposes include**:

- Provide the strategic direction for the department in alignment with the broader Mine Planning strategy
- Set expectations for the department
- Delivering and influencing on key business outcomes
- Development and maintenance of department budgets, both operating and capital
- Supporting the business and assets in the development, implementation and maintenance of systems to achieve a safe and efficient operating environment

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Understanding the key strategic objectives of the department and wider business and develop initiatives to facilitate their success
- Lead the identification and treatment of business risks from a technical, health & safety, environment and cost perspective and establish governance routines/ processes
- Manage dependencies and influence / collaborate with cross-functions to achieve shared leadership goals (i.e. Strategic Planning, Operations, Asset Management, Finance etc.)
- Oversee and promote technical specialists’ development and performance management, driving a culture of continuous improvement
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
- Graduate Diploma or Master’s degree in Business Administration (or equivalent) desirable
- 10 years’ experience in mine planning and mining operations - strong preference for multi commodity experience.
- Proven senior leadership experience and formal appointment experience as contract owner/ contractor manager.
- Comprehensive understanding of key aspects of mining, processing, maintenance, finance, safety, and sustainability
- Understanding of key commercial concepts and capital management
- Comprehensive understanding of Open Pit mining methods
- Comprehensive understanding and sound knowledge of orebody economics and its linkage to costs
