ISLHD recognises that its data is one of its most valuable assets. The need for high quality data is increasingly important, as clinicians and managers use this data to make critical decisions which impact the quality of care and for Activity Based Management (ABM) purposes.

The Clinical Documentation Improvement Analyst (CDIA) is responsible for managing and continuously improving the quality of data and ensuring that the clinical truth is reflected in the clinical documentation within the inpatient setting.

The CDIA combines their clinical understanding with a technical ability to review evidence of the patient experience within the medical record and proactively lead quality improvement and practice change.

The role is responsible for working with and assisting multiple clinical and non-clinical teams across the District to ensure clinical documentation is best practice for the current Activity Based Funding environment.

Reviews are performed on selected inpatient populations and retrospective clinical notes to ensure the optimisation of clinical documentation and that patient acuity and length of stay is accurately reflected in health care data.

The position will work closely with clinical teams to support their understanding of and maximise use of their own data and will act as a conduit between the clinical teams and the broader Planning, Information and Performance Team.
