**About Us**:
We are a specialized service dedicated to offering unique, enriching experiences for Border Collies through our City Play Days program. Understanding that Collies have high energy levels and need both mental and physical stimulation, our sessions focus on providing them with the exercise and engagement they thrive on.
**Job Summary**:
As a City Play Days Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering safe, enjoyable, and stimulating sessions for Border Collies in urban and suburban environments. The role involves working with each Collie on tailored exercises that balance training, physical activity, and mental engagement. Customers are allocated to trainers based on area, ensuring you work with clients within a manageable range.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate 1.5-hour City Play Day sessions, including pickup and drop-off, with each session tailored to meet the Collie’s exercise and stimulation needs.
- Work with each Collie on various interactive activities such as scent work, fetch, and basic agility exercises.
- Use a combination of structured play and relaxation techniques to keep Collies fully engaged while ensuring their safety.
- Encourage obedience and basic training using games, such as touch recall, scent work, and other activities to keep the Collie stimulated and safe in an urban setting.
- Build a strong rapport with each Collie, encouraging trust and confidence.
- Follow safety protocols, especially in high-traffic areas, to prevent reactive behavior and ensure a positive experience for each dog.
- Provide updates to pet owners via our portal, including photos and notes on their Collie’s experience and progress.
- Maintain equipment, including leads, harnesses, and other items, and ensure they are clean and in good working order.
**Requirements**:
- A genuine passion for Border Collies and experience working with them; understanding their unique characteristics, high energy levels, and specific needs is essential.
- Prior experience working with dogs, especially with high-energy breeds like Border Collies.
- Understanding of basic dog training principles and experience handling dogs in public settings.
- Ability to engage and entertain Collies through a mix of exercise and play.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with both Collies and their owners.
- Reliable transportation for pickups and drop-offs.
- Flexibility to work in various locations within the city and surrounding areas.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Background in animal behavior, veterinary studies, or related fields is a plus.
- Experience with reactive dogs or dogs with specific behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of dog training tools and techniques, including leads of different lengths (3m and 9m) for safe exploration and scent work activities.
