**About the role**
Security Officers plays a key role in the Security team. They are responsible for providing the strategic and operational protective security support and advice to the ACIC’s Executive and other employees in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Framework (PSPF).

The role is key in ensuring a robust security culture in the ACIC, including supporting the Director Security with the development, implementation, education and management of protective security policies and procedures.

The position may require interstate travel and on-call arrangements outside normal business hours.

Key responsibilities:

- Liaise, engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on protective security policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Assisting with or contributing to the monitoring and management of protective security matters impacting the ACIC.
- Provides oversight of the day-to-day operation of protective security systems, including access control, physical key management and guarding.
- Additionally, the identification, development and implementation of innovative risk-based approaches to protective security management processes is an important focus.
- Responsible for PERSEC, PHYSEC and/or GOVSEC within the Security team.
- Assists in the development, implementation and management of protective security policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

- Experience in the provision of protective security practices, preferably in a government or law enforcement context.
- Experience in and an understanding of the implementation of risk management principles.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the applicable legislative and policy frameworks, including the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Information Security Manual.
- Possesses interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and effectively engage with colleagues, senior managers and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Will have the ability to consider and effectively manage competing priorities and to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Contributes to a collegiate approach within the team that promotes a culture of flexibility and improvement.
- Positively influences the ACIC’s security culture and prepares and delivers security awareness training across the agency.
- Is able to identify and manage security incidents including the analysis and investigation as required and monitor and assess the internal and external threat environment specific to the ACIC.
- Assists with the development of various security risk assessments, including identifying security risks and coordinating the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

**Essential qualifications**
- Have, or are will to obtain Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management within 12 months of commencement in the role.

**Eligibility**
- **Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- **Security Clearance**:

- The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
- **Vaccination Status** - To be eligible to work at the ACIC, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
