- Undertake policy research, analysis and assistance in the development, implementation and review of matters related to Road Safety policy and legislation. The position assists in achieving the Government’s road safety objectives and outcomes through completion of tasks under the Towards Zero - Tasmanian Road Safety Strategy 2017-2026 and Towards Zero - Action Plan 2020-2024.We are a diverse and inclusive workplace that understands the importance of flexibility. **Period of Appointment**:
Appointment to the role is on a fixed-term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months.

**Duties**:

- Assist with the management of projects and initiatives with consideration for delivering outputs within time and resources constraints.
- Interpret and draft policy documents and related legislation to provide advice on national and state road safety issues.
- Research and analyse policy and legislative issues and proposes solutions and recommendations, either individually or as part of a project team.
- Develop policy and legislation taking account of the Government’s strategic direction and priorities, best practice at state, national and international levels and consistent with the Safe Systems approach to road safety.
- Prepare and contribute to policy advice for consideration by Government, Senior Management and the Road Safety Advisory Council.
- Assist with promoting awareness of the Safe Systems approach to road safety to internal and external stakeholder with the vision of a Safe Systems approach to building and using Tasmanian roads.
- Liaise and consult with stakeholders (other Agencies, industry, local government and the community) regarding the development and implementation of road safety policy.
- Prepare draft correspondence, reports, Cabinet Minutes, briefing material and legislative drafting instructions and papers.

**Desirable Requirements**:

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in road safety policy and/or programs.
