**Profile brief**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensure that timely and accurate advice is provided to internal and external customers in relation to the interpretation and implementation of the Planning and Environment Act, Subdivision Act, the Planning Scheme, and Council Policies and Practices.
- Participate in counter and phone duty and providing assistance and guidance to internal customers, including team members, as and when required.
- Brief senior management, councillors and/or elected representatives as requested and/or required to ensure that decision makers are aware of all relevant background material
- Ensure that all related issues and likely infrastructure, environment, social and economic ramifications are identified and acknowledged prior to decisions being made.
- Proactively work to ensure that informed decisions are made based on the best available information.
- Provide operational input into the overall direction of the team to contribute to the development and achievement of team goals.
- Actively and professionally contribute to the overall efficient and effective use of the teams resources.
**Requirements and Qualifications**:
- Proactive and proven problem solving skills
- Demonstrated customer service focus in the way of providing planning advice and information to Council's customers or the equivalent
- Proven time-management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and make a positive contribution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Successful completion of a degree in Planning and Environment, or similar qualification
- Experience working as a Statutory Planner, preferably in local government
