**About the opportunity**

Our Key Venues section oversees all of our aquatic and leisure centres. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure and we give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. We have an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a flexible, experienced and motivated individual to join our Key Venues Aquatic and Leisure Centres operational team as a Maintenance Assistant.

**Position purpose**:
The Maintenance Assistant will organise, undertake and/or action any maintenance and plant operations associated with the range of facilities at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope (BLCS), Blacktown Tennis Centre Stanhope (BTCS), Blacktown Aquatic Centre, Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton, Riverstone Swim Centre and Mount Druitt Swim Centre and will liaise with contractors and service specialists on aspects of venue maintenance. This position will report to the Chief Operations Manager.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Recognised industry training
- Experience in a building related industry or experience in general handyman/maintenance role.

**Desirable**:

- Trade Qualification or Aquatic Operations certificate
- Senior First Aid
- Experience in maintaining pool water quality, aquatic plant operation and maintenance/upkeep of this
equipment
- Experience working within a team environment and as a ‘self-starter’
- Advance Resuscitation/Oxygen Equipment Certificate
- Experience in meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
- Computer literate
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,175.30 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
