**Mid West Area Mental Health Service (MWAMHS)**
- **Newly created early career or graduate psychologist position**:

- **2-year full-time contract while you undertake your clinical registrar program**:

- **Work across at least 2 different clinical programs.**

**Your new team**:

- The Clinical Psychology Registrar position forms part of NWMH’s Entry Level Program (ELP) aimed at developing early career psychologists / clinical psychology graduates into skilled and experienced mental health practitioners
- Over a course of 2 years you will work across at least 2 different Area Mental Health programs.

**Your new role**:
The registrar may rotate through the following clinical programs during their two-year employment at MWAMHS:
**Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (SAAPU and WIPU - 16 bed women's only inpatient unit)**
- An IPU is a hospital unit offering care for people experiencing an acute phase of a psychiatric illness and provides assessment and treatment that focuses on individual needs and goals during this time.

**Adult Community Teams (Central and Outer)**
- Multidisciplinary community teams provide both clinic based and outreach care to consumers living with mental illness in the community. Generalist and discipline specific interventions aim to support consumers to identify recovery goals and develop an individual treatment plan to achieve these goals, involving families and carers where possible. We often see clients with a range of presenting problems including psychosis, Borderline Personality Disorder, trauma and complex trauma, AOD issues, anxiety and depression, interpersonal difficulties, homelessness and eating disorders.

**Community Care Units**
- A CCU is a community based residential unit where psychosocial rehabilitation is provided to equip individuals with the daily living skills they require. There is an emphasis on developing independent living skills through goal directed intervention with each resident during the time they remain at the unit. Residents at the CCU have a range of presenting problems, but most commonly psychosis, trauma, anxiety and personality disorders.

**Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) Program**
- The HOPE team is a 12 week program for clients presenting with suicidal experiences and who are at risk of suicide in the community. Many clients have mental health conditions but not all. There are a range of presenting problems including complex trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder, AOD issues, anxiety and depression, interpersonal difficulties, eating disorders, relationship issues. The focus is on identifying and working with clients to address the often complex and multiple drivers of suicidal experiences.

- AHPRA registration as a psychologist
- APAC accredited undergraduate and post graduate degree in clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology
- Experience and expertise in psychological / neuropsychological screening / assessments and ability to translate findings into recommendations for management / treatment planning
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively and empathetically.
- Ability to liaise with consumers, their family members and other service providers
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
