Cleaner/laundry Assistant

**About the Position**

Narangba Aged Care are currently seeking Cleaning and Laundry Assistants who will provide high-quality professional cleaning and laundry services to help maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the residence with a focus on maximising safety and minimising health risks for residents, visitors and staff at all times.

Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, this role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Provide a timely and efficient cleaning service that is responsive to the needs of residents and facility operations.
- Ensure that the cleaning service is conducted in a way that is safe to staff and residents and complies with Workplace Health & Safety legislation including safe use of chemicals.
- Ensure that residents’ clothes and other personal items are laundered using strict control measures that monitor disinfection standards as well as presentation.
- Ensure that residents’ personal clothing and other items are not damaged as a result of the laundering process and their belongings are presentable and clean on return.
- Ensure that sufficient supplies of clean linen (sheets, pillow cases, towels, face washers, table cloths etc.) are available daily in accordance with stock levels determined in consultation with the Housekeeping Services Supervisor.
- Follow correct procedures to prevent loss of residents’ clothing and personal items.
- Comply with correct procedures for safe handling and use of Chemical product and equipment as per the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Complete labelling of unmarked residents clothing items in a timely manner and return all items submitted for labelling to resident’s room.
- Ensure a high standard of customer service when interacting with residents, including presenting in a professional manner at all times with residents, resident representatives and staff.

**What we are looking for**

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

- Previous experience as a cleaner or laundry attendant in an Aged Care Facility or Health setting.
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and the safe handling, storage and disposal or chemicals, and use of cleaning equipment
- Good communication skills, including a caring and compassionate manner when interacting with customers and their representatives
- A commitment to dealing with customers in a kind way and being respectful of their identity, culture and diversity
- Values driven and willing to commit to and demonstrate the organisation’s values.
- A commitment to the principles of Workplace Health & Safety and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Ability to build and foster strong working relationships and work well as part of a team.
- A commitment to ensuring resident needs are always met by being available and reliable for all rostered shifts.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

- Penalty rates

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Narangba, QLD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Education**:

- Certificate I - IV (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Laundry: 1 year (preferred)
