**About the Role**

The Executive Manager City Development reports directly to the General Manager Business and Operations and provides leadership and strategic direction to the following departments: Development Assessment; Health, Building & Regulatory Services; and the Development Advisory Service.

This position is ultimately responsible for:

- Modelling a culture that aligns with the City of Ryde's vision and mission
- Leading the development of strategies and plans as directed by the Executive Leadership Team
- Delivery of assigned services and programs under the City of Ryde's Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Plan, and Operational Plan, as varied from time to time
- Collaborating an partnering with other Executive Managers, City Shaping Departments, Office of the CEO Departments, and Executive Leadership Team to support Council wide Business and Operations.

**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning and/or in one or more of the Group of responsibility as outlined in the organisational chart.
- Extensive equivalent leadership and management experience with a proven ability to lead, manage and motivate a multidisciplinary team to create high levels of engagement and performance.
- Extensive strategic leadership capability including conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills and ability to develop strategic partnerships.
- High level verbal communication, presentation and customer engagement skills, including demonstrated ability to provide advice and recommendations to the key internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing, promoting, and encouraging long term financial sustainability.
- Proven success in championing and managing significant change initiatives.
- Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare complex and detailed technical reports, proposals and submissions.
- Extensive knowledge of legislative requirements, practices, principles and relationships between contemporary environmental planning, regulatory and other Council functions
- Extensive knowledge of local government functions, statutory obligations, policies and processes within the legislative framework of the Local Government Act 1993 and related legislation
