As a Manager in our Sydney office, you will work in the Analytics Insights and Models team with other Surveillance colleagues. This includes coupling communications, trades and other data points with data science tools and techniques to identify patterns and behaviours while liaising with the business, Compliance, Human Resources, and Legal to resolve potential regulatory and reputational risks. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver innovative solutions and use your own knowledge of machine learning and behavioural analytics, to incorporate the latest developments in surveillance regulation, technology and industry best practice into our various surveillance projects and initiatives. Attention to detail, proficiency in data science techniques and environments, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality, are essential to be successful in this role.

The Analytics Insights and Models team is part of Macquarie's Risk Management Group (RMG) which is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. Risk Management Group personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.

**Key Responsibilities you will be involved with**:

- Deliver data-driven solutions that help achieve the risk surveillance achieve its objectives.
- Develop and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, dashboards and other data science techniques to extract insights and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and usability of the data-science solutions that meet the needs of Macquarie Group.
- Manage, maintain machine learning models and dashboards, ensuring the data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Communicate insights and findings to non-technical stakeholders, making complex data accessible and understandable
- Identify and recommend new technologies and techniques to improve data science processes and methodologies
- Adhere to best practices and follows proper data governance and security protocols.
- Mentor and develop team members to improve their technical and analytical skills
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and technology, and continuously improve the team's skills and knowledge.

**Desirable Skills you will have**:

- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Proficient in using Linux/Unix command line interface and shell scripting
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or QlikView.
- Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum

**You will ideally have these Qualifications**:

- Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- Several years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of delivering successful data-driven solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex problems
- Extensive experience in statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and machine learning algorithms
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data science concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent time-management and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in data governance and security protocols.

**About the Risk Management Group**

The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for ensuring all risk across Macquarie are appropriately assessed and managed. Its divisions include Behavioural Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Risk, and RMG Enterprise Support.
