Teacher Assistant

ES1-1 CLASSROOM ASSISTANTS
Education Support Staff at this level will be able to work and communicate with students who have specialised needs and possess the necessary aptitude to perform a variety of duties which may include administrative, first aid and classroom assistance including
- supporting teachers in the delivery of educational programs
- working with students and teachers as part of a team
- communicating with students in the delivery of educational programs
- **Role description**
- Assist students in the delivery of high quality instructional strategies in a variety of contexts including wholes group, small group and individual support.
- Provide supervision to pupils in playgrounds, at camps (where negotiated) on excursions, in sporting activities etc.
- Support the use of equipment and technology (including where appropriate Boardmaker) within a highly effective learning environment.
- Provide personal attendant care to students including mealtime assistance and transfers in line with school policy and documented management practices.
- Support the maintenance of a clean and orderly classroom learning environment, assisting with the daily establishment of the room for learning.
- Assist in the development of classroom resources.
- Support the emotional and physical wellbeing of students, employing intervention strategies consistent with the schools P.B.S policy and practices.
- Participate in designated meetings as outlined in the Term Calendar and negotiated within the constraints of employment.
- Assist with communication between parents/carers, teachers, staff and the wider community
- Undertake first aid duties provided that the staff member is agreeable and has appropriate current qualifications.
- Ensure work areas, materials, equipment and appliances are maintained in a clean, ready-to-use condition, consistent with Cross Infection standards and guidelines established.
- Be aware of their employment conditions consistent with the Victorian Government Schools Agreement

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 31 per week

**Salary**: From $27.15 per hour
