As Victoria's education and training regulator, VRQA supports the education and training goals of the Victorian Government and contributes to the portfolio-wide efforts of the Department of Education (DE) and Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) to help Victorians gain the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and participate in a complex and challenging economy and society.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides high level, strategic advice on relevant regulatory matters to the CEO and the VRQA Board and its committees. This critical leadership position is responsible for delivering on the significant responsibilities delegated to it by the CEO and the VRQA Board, including periodically leading complex regulatory reviews or investigations. The role has primary responsibility for information technology and information services, complainants management and investigation, and home schooling regulation.
The Deputy CEO undertakes leadership and management responsibilities for allocated regulatory activities that may include schools, or home education, or Vocational Education and Training, apprenticeship and traineeships.
The establishment and maintenance of excellent working relationships with influential internal and external stakeholders is a significant aspect of this position's responsibilities.
The role will lead a team of approximately 15 staff and has responsibility for contract management of externally sourced providers.
In addition to regulatory activities, the Deputy CEO will contribute to the performance and culture of the VRQA as a member of the executive leadership team supporting people and organisational development, and innovation.
