Interior Designer Role - Job Description

**Position**: Interior Designer

**Type**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $80,000 per year plus superannuation

Key Responsibilities:

- **Design and Planning**: Plan, design, detail, and supervise the construction of building interiors tailored to specific purposes, emphasizing space creation and planning.
- **Communication**: Prepare sketches, diagrams, illustrations, and plans to effectively communicate design concepts.
- **Negotiation**: Negotiate design solutions with clients, management, suppliers, and construction staff.
- **Material Selection**: Select, specify, and recommend materials, furniture, and products for interiors based on functionality and aesthetics.
- **Research and Analysis**: Conduct research and analyze spatial, functional, efficiency, safety, and aesthetic requirements.
- **Concept Development**: Formulate and develop design concepts for building interiors, supported by research on materials and technical issues.
- **Documentation**: Detail and document selected designs for construction purposes.
- **Supervision**: Supervise the construction of interiors to ensure alignment with design specifications.
- **Client Consultation**: Determine design objectives and constraints by consulting with clients and stakeholders.
- **On-site Observations**: Conduct on-site observations and provide recommendations to streamline ongoing design projects.
- **Presentations**: Prepare and participate in client presentations.
- **Project Coordination**: Work within schedules to coordinate and complete tasks through to final project completion.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

- At least 15 years' experience working in the interior design industry.
- Relevant qualifications in interior design or a related field.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Skills:

- Excellent attention to detail.
- Comprehensive knowledge of interior design principles and practices.
- Effective time management.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in presentation and preparation techniques.
- Proficient in using Sketchup, ARCHICAD, Rhino (GH), and Revit.
- Experience in collaborating on construction projects.
