Watchroom Operator

**The Role**
The Watchroom Operator is responsible for the operational requirements of the applicable fire station under the direction of the Regional Manager, Station Officer or Leading Fire-fighter. This is a permanent position based out of Oakey QLD on a 10/14 Roster (2x 10-hour days then 2x 14 hour nights then 4 days off).

**Responsibilities**
- Monitor alarm panels and alert all station crew of any incoming alarms or emergencies in accordance with the requirements of contractual agreements and statements of works.
- Alert and coordinate fire crews to impending incidents and emergencies.
- Monitor radio communications as required.
- Maintain the Fire Station logbook including a record of incident turnout times.
- Obtain and document any emergency information requested by the Incident Controller during emergency situations.
- Ensure that all relevant administrative duties associated with the station watch room are performed.
- Participate in training and development activities.

**Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge**
- Hold the relevant Public Safety (Fire Sector) competencies
- A proven track record for performance and professionalism for multi-tasking.
- A strong focus on team orientation.
- Will be required to work shift work.
- May be required to back-fill other fire stations within the state or around the country.
- Must hold a current and valid driver’s licence.
- Must be an Australian Citizen able to maintain a defence security clearance.
