Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at **Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital**_ _**within the Department of **General Medicine - Gastroenterology.**

Successful applicant will be highly a motivated and competent physician.

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is committed to achieving continuous quality improvement in client services within a Quality Management framework with a supporting Strategic Plan aimed at the continuous improvement of all facilities.

In addition to this, there are a number of facilities strategically located across the District that provide primary health care services to the community.

Successful applicants will have the breadth of knowledge and skills to take responsibility for safe clinical decisions in their specialty. Able to communicate effectively with patients and Multi-Disciplinary teams including the management of difficult and complex situations with patients and their families, to advise them appropriately and to manage complaints effectively.

The successful applicant will have effective interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts when they arise and to develop and maintain productive working relationships within the team. Also assist the Department Head to implement and develop appropriate clinical outcome measures.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, skilled professional with a commitment to providing excellent clinical care in our General Medicine Department of Blue Mountains Hospital.

This position is for a Visiting Medical Officer covering the Gastroenterology Clinics at Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital**.**

**Selection Criteria**
- Possess registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Adult Medicine Division, Australia** **or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2007. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position
- Sound clinical knowledge in General Medicine specialising in Gastroenterology, through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Gastroenterology demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.

Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2007
