HOBAN Recruitment is currently partnering with a respected **VIC Local Council **in the search for a highly capable individual to join as a **Local Laws Officer (Statutory Laws) **located in **Wantirna South**.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Encourage and maintain compliance through enforcement, mediation and when required, prosecution of breaches against Acts, Regulations and Local Laws, traffic/parking controls.
- Meet customer needs and expectations by responding to and investigating customer reports and concerns relating to alleged breaches of Acts, Regulations or Local Laws in accordance with operating procedures and processes.
- Make independent decisions associated with day to day enforcement activities, having reference to procedures, codes of practice, and delegated authorities. Liaise with line managers where deemed appropriate on work related issues where appropriate.
- Provide assistance and support to Community Laws Officers and other City Safety and Health staff as required.
- Investigate all customer requests/ reports in a timely manner, relating to relevant legislation.
- Promote responsible pet ownership within the municipality of the Council. Investigate offences and gain compliance through inspections with regard to the requirements and provisions of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and other council regulations.
- Collect evidence, obtain statements, conduct interviews and prepare informative and thorough court briefs and provide technical advice when required relating to investigations to achieve successful prosecutions at the Magistrates' Court.
- Compose letters, draft notices and issues infringements showing close attention to detail and provide advice of a technical and or legal/enforcement nature to the Council staff and members of the public as required.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Demonstrated experience in an investigative role
- Degree or Tertiary qualification in Animal Control, Regulations, or Investigations (desired) or lesser formal qualifications combined with relevant experience
