**About the Role**

We are currently seeking a Critical Care HMO applicant for 2023.

The rotations will be:
Term 1 - Relief (3 weeks), annual leave (5 weeks), Casey Emergency (5weeks)

Term 2 - ICU VHH

Term 3 - Casey Emergency

Term 4 Paediatric ICY - Clayton

As the Hospital Medical Officer you are accountable to your Registrar for the care all the patients in the unit. It is expected that you:

- Work under supervision and within your scope of practice
- Ensure coordination of care for patients in your unit
- Ensure timely and clear clinical communication including clinical handover with regards to patients under your care
- Ensure timely escalation of care related issues to your registrar/consultant when required
- In your clinical practice demonstrate commitment to quality and safety and Monash Health's “Patient first” initiative.
- In your clinical practice demonstrate commitment towards Monash Health's “Four hours will be ours” initiative
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe and high quality person centred care
- Provide teaching and supervision of interns and students
- Attendance at the Unit weekly meetings, daily ward rounds and education sessions (including presenting cases as required).
- Liaison with all members of the health care team to facilitate effective and efficient patient management e.g. physio, social work, psych, palliative care etc.
- Check that all patients are consented for procedures where necessary.
- Ordering and coordinating investigations.
- Maintaining an ongoing record of the patient's progress, investigations requested, investigation results and changes in management.
- Recording a brief summary of each consultant ward round in medical records.
- Daily reviewing all patients under your care.
- Transfer patients to further appropriate care.
- Design in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary health care team a discharge plan which considers the environmental problems associated with discharge (in particular those of the elderly), the local health care facilities and the relevant community support agencies.
- About You
- You are a dynamic medical professional, described as enthusiastic and motivated to perform at your best every day, you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

**What you need**:

- Current General (unconditional) registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Successful completion of at least one post graduate year
- Has the appropriate level of clinical knowledge skills and experience to undertake the role of HMO
