**About the role**
As a Compliance Specialist, you will become the compliance custodian for the Zai business, enabling a best-in-class compliance culture, and by doing so, you will play your part on the Zai journey as it rapidly expands its services and continues to scale at a record pace.

The Compliance Specialist will report to the Head of Risk and Compliance - APAC.

**What is expected in your new role**
- Lead the development of merchant risk strategies, keeping company leaders informed and prepared.
- Manage the Compliance Monitoring Plan and Risk Management Programme, keeping Zai safe and sound.
- Advise our teams on complex rules and policies to form a world-class compliance framework.
- Help our Commercial and Product teams find the perfect partners, ensuring they meet all our requirements.
- Understand and translate payment scheme rules into clear instructions, keeping Zai compliant and ahead of the curve.
- Investigate suspicious activity, resolve merchant issues, and keep fraudsters at bay.
- Become the trusted advisor and guide management and colleagues on compliance risks, ensuring everyone's on the same page.
- Analyse transactions and report suspicious activity, ensuring Zai upholds its AML responsibilities as an AFSL-licenced payments company
- Attend workshops, and conferences, and absorb knowledge
- Tackle critical escalations with regulators and law enforcement
- Guide the business through new opportunities, making sure they stay compliant and manage risks like a pro.
- Become the go-to expert on rules and policies, helping everyone in the Zai business navigate the complex world of payments and the rapidly evolving compliance landscape.
- Australian Tertiary qualification in Business, Law or Risk Compliance Management or equivalent depth of industry experience and knowledge.
- Minimum 2 - 3 years experience within financial services/payments environment within Australia in a previous compliance role
- A sound understanding of payment schemes (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Direct Entry, BPAY and NPP)
- A deep understanding of regulatory requirements having worked in the financial services industry
- Commercial acumen, including understanding payments, key business models and related risks.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to transform raw data and information into meaningful insights.
- As an investigative thinker, you have strong attention to detail, excellent communication, writing, and analysis and are passionate about developing your soft and hard skills
