About the Role
Electorate Officers play an important role in providing services to the Victorian community. Reporting to the Member of Parliament that nominates you, your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity. Confidentiality is also a key requirement when interacting with constituents and visitors to the office or in the community.
Based in the Member of Parliament's electorate office, you will interact daily with constituents, community organisations and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities may include:

- Media and stakeholder engagement

**Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of an Electorate Officer vary depending on the needs of the Member and the operations of the electorate office. The Responsibilities described below are indicative of the duties an Electorate Officer Grade 2 may perform:
Media and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of local and topical issues and ensures the Member is fully briefed in a timely manner on such issues, with the aim of mitigating any adverse escalation of issues.
- Plan, write and edit a range of promotional material that has a wide community distribution such as newsletters, brochures, press releases, speeches etc.
- Where authorised by the Member, represent and communicate the views of the Member at community meetings, public forums etc.
- Maintain effective liaison with the media, government contacts and other relevant stakeholder groups.
- Maintain, administer, and update online communications.
- In collaboration with vendor where applicable, design online content, databases and communications as required.
- Monitor media, online communications and responses to the Member's communications for relevant and topical issues and provide reports on trends or issues.
- Work with softwares such as NationBuilder and other related technologies. NationBuilder experience is desired.

General Administration and Office Management
- Manage Member's diary, exercising discretion in scheduling of activities/appointments.
- Manage Electorate Office budget, ensuring expenditure is within guidelines and reconciling reports.
- Procure goods and services in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Perform accounts payable activities as required and within delegations.
- Resolve more complex operational problems without reference to Member.
- Develop local databases or reporting systems and ensures the integrity of data.

Constituent Service
- Prepare written responses on behalf of the Member on a diverse range of matters of varying complexity.
- Achieve positive outcomes for constituents through appropriate advocacy and representation.
- Maintain an extensive network of government, local and industry contacts, and knowledge of services available to constituents.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee the operation of large public events, functions, and meetings.
- Take a proactive role in representing the Member on local and specific portfolio issues

Parliamentary Duties
- Applies parliamentary processes to assist the Member.
- Attend briefings and reports back to Member.
- Prepare petitions and ensure compliance with the rules of the relevant House.
- Undertake research on upcoming legislation, or other research as required, and provide briefing notes to Member.
- Draft speeches and speaking notes on behalf of Member.
- Draft questions to ministers in accordance with the rules of the relevant House.
- Undertake associated administrative duties as required.

Salary
Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2021.
Part-time $80,227 (pro rata) per annum plus 10.5% employer superannuationJob Type
This is a part-time ongoing opportunity based out of the Braybrook Electorate office
