The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents 27,000 academic and general/professional staff in universities and other tertiary education providers throughout Australia. In Tasmania, the NTEU primarily represents staff at the University of Tasmania.

The NTEU Tasmanian Division has a vacancy for a Division Industrial Organiser to be based in Hobart, with some travel to regional worksites. This position is offered on a full-time basis and is ongoing. Flexible working hours can be arranged between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The position will suit an individual experienced in organising or industrial work, either within a trade union or other like community organisation.
- Undertaking recruitment of new members.
- Develop and executing State-wide campaigns on professional, public policy and recruitment matters.
- Establishing, maintaining, assisting and training networks of workplace union representatives.
- Research, prepare, negotiate and/or advocate individual and collective cases with the management of the university.
- Participating in campaign and organising activities, either locally, state-wide or nationally.

The position will be filled at NTEU Level 6 ($104,205 - $114,236) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national Collective Agreement.
