**About the role**
In this role, you will provide support, guidance and leadership to the permits related staff, including performance management and training.

Key responsibilities include:

- Manage the mandatory inspection program and field investigations to assist clients and ensure fair and proper compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
- Prepare reports, submissions and provide expert and professional assessment and advice on all matters and issues as delegated by the Municipal Building Surveyor.
- Represent Council in public forums, legal proceedings and appeal hearings as required.
- Undertake statutory duties as requested by the Municipal Building Surveyor.
- Assist with the development and promotion of a business focus to the sourcing and delivery of services.

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have a current registration in the category of Building Surveyor issued by the Victorian Building Authority. (Note: applicants that hold qualifications which would provide eligibility to obtain registration may be given consideration in certain circumstances and are encouraged to apply).

Essential:

- Proficient working knowledge, and the ability to interpret relevant legislation.
- Exceptional conceptual, analytical, investigative, interpretative and problem-solving skills.
- Confident and collaborative communication style with the ability to produce positive outcomes with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Positive, proactive and professional attitude with a flexible approach.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License
