**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
Infrastructure and Health Support Services, a division of Canberra Health Services, are responsible for:
Capital project delivery;
Facilities Management;
Domestic and Environmental Services;
Food Services;
Sterilising Services;
Security Services; and

Fleet Management.

The Infrastructure and Health Support Services, Facilities Management Division, is responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, asset management, utilities and contracts and leasing for the Canberra Health Services property portfolio across the ACT.

The FM Trades Assistant will report to the Facilities Operations Manager and will be responsible for assisting with planned and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with priorities established by the Workshop Senior and Facilities Operations Manager at the Canberra Hospital.

The FM Trades Assistant will have a unique understanding of the responsibilities and accountabilities of the role, being able to work collaboratively across a range of areas in CHS. The incumbent will communicate professionally and work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team effort.

**DUTIES**:
Under limited direction of the Workshop Seniors, you will perform the duties as outlined below to the highest standard:

- Assist with planned and reactive maintenance relating to all FM related trades and carrying out minor repairs not requiring trade skills and qualifications. Including undertake essential works and assisting with general maintenance activities at the request of Management.
- Working with a diverse range of workshops and liaise with multiple Workshop Senior Staff regarding assistance to FM deliverables.
- Undertake general cleaning duties of plantrooms and workshops.
- Assist with minor relocations of equipment and furniture.
- Follow defined WH&S and injury management policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken, in order to ensure their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
- Ensure and maintain a high level of safety and cleanliness in the FM Workshops.
- Complete all report sheets, work orders, log books and test certificates in hard copy or electronic logger as necessary.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

**Position Requirements/Qualifications**:
**Mandatory**:

**Highly Desirable**:

- Confined Space training or willingness to participate in an employer-sponsored course within the first 12 months of employment.
- Working at Heights training or willingness to participate in an employer-sponsored course within the first 12 months of employment.
- Hold a current drivers’ licence.
- Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Undergo a pre-employment medical examination

**WHAT YOU REQUIRE**:

- Proven experience in assisting trade staff in a large health care setting or similar environment.
- Ability to understand priorities relating to services and patient care and to be able to complete work to meet those objectives.
