**What does the role involve?**

The Head of Government Affairs in the Government & Regulatory Affairs team, will be responsible for leading the proactive and responsive federal and state government engagement in support of Australia Post’s strategic growth initiatives, including a focus on internal and external advisory and advocacy.

A key priority is supporting the development of an integrated government, industry and regulatory engagement strategy and roadmap that delivers the organisation's strategy, that also protects and enhances Australia Post’s reputation, and fosters its social licence to operate.

**What are the key responsibilities?**
- Lead members of the Government & Regulatory Affairs team to proactively and responsively engage with Federal & State Government stakeholders in support of Australia Post’s strategic objectives
- Lead the preparation of the business and key individuals for appearances before Senate Estimates and other Parliamentary Inquiries
- Coordinate the business's engagement with Shareholder Ministerial stakeholders
- Work closely with Head of Industry, Policy and Regulatory Affairs to support on development of policy submissions and advice to various external forums
- Manage engagement with key Federal, State & Territory regulatory bodies across a range of enterprises and government agencies

**What are we looking for?**
- Highly experienced professional in Government Relations / Corporate Affairs / Industry engagement / regulatory or Policy adviser / or Ministerial adviser role within a commercial setting
- Strong commercial acumen
- Demonstrated experience and capability in leading, supporting and developing teams
- Strong understanding and familiarity with regulations and proven experience to overlay these with business strategy
- Very strong understanding of regulatory framework and financial risk
- A proven ability to work in complex team environments and organisations
- A demonstrated ability to understand commercial concepts and set strategic direction
